Barack Obama...poster child By Robert T. Smith As defined by the World English Dictionary, a Poster Child is a person who characterizes a particular characteristic or cause. President Obama is the Poster Child for his cause, statist-big government. Many times, when those on the right are confronted with someone who does not reflect their beliefs, they are asked to leave. A recent prime example would be Representative Todd Akin. When apparently overcome with what can only be described as some form or another of political Tourette's, Representative Todd Akin blurted out inane ramblings during the last election cycle about "legitimate rape" and a woman's ability to reject being impregnated by a rapist. The Republicans turned on Representative Akin, a member of their own party. President Bush obviously suffered with a lack of support from left, but also from the right. When President Bush left office, his approval rating percentage was only slightly above the speed limit through most school zones...a clear signal that even those in his own political party were disgusted with his term of office. Not so with the left's Poster Child. The left and their propaganda arm, the mainstream media have covered for their Poster Child, President Obama, since the day he arrived on the scene. The left is fully invested in the President as their big-government Poster Child. The nation knew more about Sarah Palin within a week of her being selected as the Vice Presidential candidate than we know, even now, about the left's Poster Child. Every dysfunctional agenda item, ongoing mismanagement of the economic situation, government takeover of car companies, crippling our nation's financial system, and excessive-economy crippling regulatory compliance requirements are overlooked by the President's supporters. This list doesn't even touch on his recent scandals du jour. Worse, President Obama's administration has been the direct causative factor for people to be killed, with not a peep from the left. Notoriously, the Fast and Furious gun running program instituted by the President's administration allowed hundreds if not thousands of Mexicans to be killed, in addition to a U.S. Border patrol agent killed by guns trafficked to Mexico by the Obama administration. The despicable political calculations in the Benghazi scandal allowed decisions to be made to leave our ambassador and support personnel unprotected and then not respond to save their lives during the course of an assault on their compound. Not a negative word from the left about their Poster Child, even when innocents are murdered. There has not been a peep from the liberal mainstream media or leftist politicians when our first colored president has sewn the seeds of racial animus with his petulant blaming of the police in the Henry Lewis Gates' arrest. Without admonishment from his media-supporters or leftist politicians, the President purposefully incited racial discord by injecting himself into the Trayvon Martin case. Devoid of the facts of what actually happened that lead Trayvon Martin to be shot in self-defense by George Zimmerman, the President acted as judge and jury by intoning that Trayvon could have been his son. Although, having read Mr. Obama's autobiography, and the more recent revelations about Trayvon Martin's wanna-be gangster life, including his illegal drug use, Trayvon could very well have been a fellow traveler of pappy Barrack's, patterned after the President's young adulthood Choom Gang. As best stated by David Axelrod "Part of being president is there's so much beneath you that you can't know because the government is so vast." The left must hate their Poster Child for big government. Every ounce of their belief system is being exposed as a fraud, by the person for whom they have carried the most water in our lifetimes. Barrack Obama has shed the light of day upon the left's basic belief system and shown it to be an abject lie. The Poster Child's failed system is patterned after the big-government, socialist-nanny states, decaying into chaos before our very eyes throughout Europe. Recently, at Ohio State University's graduation, the left's Poster Child chided his political enemies and admonished the graduating class that ...."Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that's at the root of all our problems...They'll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices." What bizarre timing in light of all we now know about what this President and his regime have been up to. The problem of a large and powerful, tyrannical government that would trample We The People under foot was clearly an issue with our founders. The basic human nature of people was clearly laid out in Federalist Paper no. 51 by James Madison... "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary." The Poster Child President is a simple incarnation of that which he has admonished us to ignore and our founding fathers admonished us to guard against, certainly no angel, but instead the Poster Child of tyranny. Robert T. Smith is an environmental scientist who spends his days enjoying life and the pursuit of happiness with his family. He confesses to cling to his liberty, guns and religion, with antipathy toward the arrogant ruling elites throughout the country.
