We remember

We here at the ESR family just want to take this opportunity to mark Remembrance Day in Canada and other Commonwealth nations and Veterans Day in the United States.

We’d like to thank all the soldiers and their families who have sacrificed so much in the cause of liberty. Your service to your nations and freedom will always be remembered and honoured.

For information about Canada’s Remembrance Day feel free to visit here.

Visit and visit often

In the annals of ESR there are few people who go back further than our friend Isabel Lyman. I hadn't heard from her in some time so it was nice to hear from her recently that she's started a new blog called The Castillo Chronicles.

Isabel is a huge talent and it would do you well to add her blog to your favourites.

Remember

Yeah, it's Friday -- party day! -- but please remember to spare a moment to think of the people who were murdered eight years ago today. We will always remember.

Happy Labour Day

I hope everyone is having a happy Labour Day filled with lying around and not doing any labour. Have a beer for me!

She's back

Long time readers of ESR will of course remember Lady Liberty's penetrating essays and informative film reviews. The good Lady vanished some time ago and has been missing ever since.

I am pleased to report that she's back after an extended absence dealing with the real world and will begin contributing to the magazine starting next week. Also, her web site has been refreshed and is once again offering new content.

Good to have you back!

PSA: Covey seminar

Not exactly politics related but given the state of the economy it should be of interest to you. Stephen M.R. Covey, best-selling author, is holding a free webinar on the issue of trust in business -- certainly a timely topic. Covey will discuss how to leverage trust as a powerful economic driver, performance multiplier, and key leadership competency of the new global economy.

The seminar takes place March 17 between 1 and 2:00pm. Register by March 16 to attend. Seriously, what are you going to do during that hour, work?

You can sign up here.

We remember

On behalf of the Enter Stage Right family I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those who fought for our freedom. Though we seem intent on screwing up all that good work you did, you at least helped preserved the freedom for us to do so. Your sacrifices will not be forgotten.

Perhaps I should change the name to Rock and Roll Liberal...

(via The Meatriarchy) The 2008 Bloggies have been announced and out of five nominees only one wasn't a far left blog. The winner was Crooks and Liars and the lone non-liberal blog was Instapundit who has described himself as a "Whig".

Whoever decides this stuff can pick and choose whoever they want but stuff like this is a joke considering I could name a dozen blogs off the top of my head that are better than garbage like The Huffington Post or Daily Kos.

Boom

The U.S. military is replacing its bunker buster bomb with a few new versions, ones that blow stuff up good. Real good.

I wish I had gone to that camp actually...

Toronto residents are in a state of rage today because of posters appearing over the city advertising a summer camp for kids which features training with assault rifles and grenades. Personally, I would have loved something like that but relax folks, it's really just a campaign to spotlight the plight of child soldiers around the world.

The campaign also put together a commercial which is pretty well done.

The greatest video footage ever...

I happened to be watching Sportsnet while at a bar last night and they aired this video clip. It was so cool that I had to share it with you.

Seems this cat Pinty really loves the New York Mets, understandable as they are God's favourite baseball team. It also appears that Pinty's new wife, Pooja, is very understanding because she allowed an appearance by Mr. Met, the team's mascot, to appear at her wedding. I must admit, Mr. Met can bust a move.

They can always get jobs after the war...

Interesting blog post over at Threat Level the other day about recent al-Qaida broadcasts. According to Neal Krawetz, the terrorist group extensively manipulates the images before releasing their video tapes to the public.

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians. I may not love all aspects of it, but Canada is a great place to live!

Meanwhile, here's an article about words that apparently only Canadians use. Are Americans seriously denied the pleasures of butter tarts?
