03/31/2003 Archived Entry: "Our 9/11 victims deserve better"
PATHETIC: I don't read the newspaper for one weekend and I miss an exceptionally disgusting story. Canada's memorial to its September 11 victims is in a room that can't be accessed by her citizens. The incomparable Christie Blatchford tells all.

A private government building with security guards that won't allow any non-government approved personel?! Nice. I guess the bureaucratic reasoning might go something like, "since Canadians are saturated with anti-Americanism, we need to offer security for these kind of vulnerable places. What kind of government would we be if we didn't? So lets stash it away somewhere inaccessible, shall we?"
Thankgod the government is looking after the memorial. It just wouldn't be right to trust it to people who genuinely cared about it.
