09/23/2003 Archived Entry: "Dixie Chicks to Leave Country Music Over Reaction to Remarks"

WELL, I NEVER CONSIDERED WHAT THEY DID MUSIC ANYWAY...: According to the Talon News, the Dixie Chicks no longer want to be considered a country music band after the backlash they received over critical remarks about George W. Bush.

I have one bone to pick with the story, which describes them as "once-popular country music superstars." The band did have one of the more successful tours this year despite not winning anything at the Country Music Awards. That and the fact that they sold several million copies of their album still makes them popular.

The dixie chicks seem to have forgotten that if it wasn't for people supporting them, they would be serving fries in McDonalds right now (ironically where I think that they belong). I think America should be ashamed that The bitchy chicks are from the United States. I have never been prouder to be Canadian!!

It doesn't surprise me they feel that way. I, too, was very disappointed that nobody in country music supported them. Everybody in country music is a clone. Nobody is willing to stand up any more.

The Dixie Chicks anti-Bush statements are MORE patriotic than the b.s. flag-waving, blind faith crap put out by most country artists. I am a country music fan but it makes me want to gag. MILLIONS of people feel as they do about that thing they called a war. What a travesty.

I hope they do well. They are so talented.
