NATIONAL GUARD DOCUMENTS FORGED?: So says Charles over at Little Green Footballs. He states that he duplicated one of the documents perfectly in Microsoft Word, presumably not available in 1973, while others have investigated and determined that one of the characters used in the document -- specifically the superscript "th" -- aren't even available on an IBM Selectric typewriter.
Dirty tricks in politics? Oh my.

I have taken a look at a couple of documents available on the CBS News website. They do look suspect to me. Even though I was Navy and I'm sure there were differences in the way documents were produced between USN and ANG, I'm still suspicious of the way these read and the style in which they were written.
Besides the superscript and font issue, I curious why, in the unsigned memo to record, that the subject line is "Conversation with Bush, 1st LT Bush". Why the duplication? Granted, memos to record are generally less formal and written as memory joggers, is a LTC so incompetent that he would need to remind himself that "Bush" means "1st Lt Bush" by including both in the same line? I wrote many, many memos to file in my day and never had to write a subject line like that, and I won't claim to be any smarter than the LTC who allegedly wrote the one about Bush.
There are enough discrepancies just in those 2 documents to make the "evidence" more than a bit fishy.
