Beating the leftists by properly defining the debate By John Bender The radical left is once again defining the terms used in the debate over our Constitutional rights. Most of the time they get away with doing this because we accept it. On the rare occasion when the traditionalists unite to properly define the terms used in the debate the left loses. The best example of this is the success the pro-life supporters have had turning the attitude of the country to a majority favoring pro-life policies. In that debate the pro-abortion forces tried to label themselves "pro-choice" while labeling the people seeking to protect the lives of babies as "anti-abortion" and "anti-choice" The people fighting to protect babies' lives did not accept the label the pro-abortion forces tried to hang on them. They mobilized and the leaders as well as the rank and file supporters referred to themselves as pro-life. The leaders corrected hosts and reporters who used the inaccurate label in interviews and wrote columns using the proper label. Their supporters wrote letters to newspapers and called talk radio shows using the proper label. That worked. According to the Gallup organization, as of 2012 more people in the country are pro-life than pro-abortion. The pro-life community had even more success properly labeling the brutal, inhuman practice of partial birth abortion as what it is rather than the label the pro-abortion forces used; "Intact dilation and extraction". There is now a federal law against this vile practice. Today the radical anti- Second Amendment political hacks and their toadies in the establishment media have managed to mislabel the most popular rifle in America as an assault weapon. They should not get away with that. The AR-15 is a personal defense weapon suitable for use in close quarters. You don't have to take my word for this. Janet Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security says so. Not only are they buying personal defense weapons (PDWs), but the request for proposal specifies that these PDWs be capable of accepting the standard 20- and 30-round M-16 magazines. Read the department's requirements for yourself here; http://www.scribd.com/doc/122085514/DHS-RFP-to-GSA-For-Purchase-of-7000-AR-15-s So, there you have it straight from the Obama regime. AR-15s are personal defense weapons suitable for use in close quarters. They are NOT assault weapons. The standard 20 and 30 round magazines are not high capacity magazines. They are the standard magazines for these personal defense weapons. Anyone who says otherwise is at odds with the Obama regime. Every time one of the anti-Second Amendment radicals calls an AR-15 an assault weapon they should be corrected and asked why they think they know more about what constitutes a personal defense weapon than the Department of Homeland Security. Civil rights groups like the NRA (the nation's oldest civil rights group), The Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Sisters should mobilize their members to call radio shows, write newspapers and their Senators telling them to use the proper term when referring to these guns and correct anyone who misrepresents them as assault weapons. I would love to see a Senator interrupt that national socialist, hag, Feinstein, and correct her. It would be sweet to hear her try to explain why she thinks she knows more about guns than the regime's Department of Homeland Security. That will not happen, nor will real news agencies like the Daily Caller, The Blaze, Breitbart, etc., start calling these Personal Defense Weapons by their proper name if those of us working to protect our rights do not flood them with mail and calls telling them to use the proper term. We have the example showing that we can correct the language of the debate. The key to correcting the term used is to getting active and vocal. It's all up to us.
