Feeling sorry for Hillary? Save those tears ---this (misplaced sympathy) too shall pass! By John W. Lillpop Hillary Rodham Clinton is one of the most disliked, despised, distrusted, and non-sympathetic characters in US political history. Her negative poll numbers are epic, with Republican Donald J. Trump the only current candidate with comparable numbers. Yet in spite of it all, Hillary is a human being, an American citizen, a mother and grandmother. As such she deserves some respect, and for the soft-hearted among us, a measure of sympathy, if ever so fleeting. Consider her current plight: Both Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders are unloading daily assaults on the character and career of Mrs. Clinton. Such assaults are increasingly personal as Trump calls her "Crooked Hillary" and Sanders declares that a Clinton candidacy would be disastrous for both the Democrat Party and the nation. As if that were not enough, FBI Director James Comey joined the ‘pile on' by refuting Clinton's description of the FBI action as a ‘security inquiry,' rather than the more ominous tone conjured up when the word "Investigation" is applied. As reported here:
"That's what we do," declared the widely-respected Comey, thereby refusing to join the cabal of mainstream media and deluded Democrats in their attempt to cover up the high crimes and misdemeanors of the despicable leftist! Of course, to some irrational, unthinking Americans, Hillary is an innocent victim of sexist scalawags, like Donald Trump, Bernie Sander, and now Director Comey, all in a grand conspiracy to deny Clinton her rightful place in the Oval Office and US history simply because she was born a member of the '‘weaker sex!" Sob, sob! Makes even the most hostile conservative open to the notion of sympathy and compassion, right? To which I say: Hillary belongs in federal detention, not the White House! As to the urge to pity Hillary Clinton: Forget it patriot! This too shall pass! John W. Lillpop is a California-based writer. © 2016 John W. Lillpop
