Conservatives fed up with 'out of touch' left

Although most political observers are concentrating on the looming Supreme Court battle royal, another salient clash is underway.
This is not a new political fight, but one that continues to ratchet-up. In essence, Conservatives are angered and stymied by the Left’s thoroughly improper reaction to the war-on-terror. Conservatives are disgusted with the Left’s constant flow of anti-Americanism, misinformation, negativism and defeatism. The Left doesn’t get it; they can’t seem to mentally process why it’s imperative that we all stand together and tackle this pernicious worldwide web of terror. And with the recent terror attacks in London that were almost certainly al-Qaeda inspired, this issue of effectively combating global Jihad is clearly at the forefront. Moreover, Conservatives have had enough, and they’re coming out swinging against the Left and their liberal cohorts in Big-Media. The political Left – both here and abroad – can no longer demean and under-cut the ongoing battle in Iraq , and the larger war-on-terror, without facing considerable challenge from the Right-leaning crowd. And that’s the long and short of it.
Now, more than ever, media Conservatives are vociferously assailing the Left’s gamut of responses to Islamic terrorism and the war-on-terror. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Monica Crowley are just a few of the conservative commentators that are increasingly taking the Left to task for “blaming America first”, terribly slanting news and events coming out of Iraq, and generally seeking to thwart the overall war-on-terror. In fact, some on the Left are claiming that there is no need for a war-on-terror, since a law enforcement approach is sufficient. Sure. What do we do with all of our subpoenas when these terrorist thugs run to rogue regimes for safe haven and sanctuary? Law enforcement and “war” have different rules of engagement, and, for the sake of being efficacious, we clearly need to operate in a wartime milieu. But then again, the Left rarely thinks these things through. The bottom line is that the US would have tremendous difficulty bringing terrorists to justice under a law enforcement mode of action. So why go down that road?
Moreover, if you check overseas with propaganda outfits such as the BBC and the UK Guardian, Leftist media types have already morphed into blatant terrorist sympathizers! Make no mistake, that’s where the American mainstream media is headed as well. Thank heavens that we still have wonderful commentators who are willing to confront the purveyors of lies and gobbledygook. Self-styled “independent” television journalist Bill O’Reilly of the Fox News Channel, who is more conservative than not, is giving the Left both barrels on his highly rated television program. Good for O’Reilly!
In the aftermath of the London attacks, O’Reilly confronted the Left in his Talking Points Memo when he averred: “T his evening is about sanitizing terror, failing to deal realistically with the deadly enemy… Generally speaking, the European media is viciously anti-American when it comes to the war on terror. The garbage these people are throwing out to a largely clueless public is astounding. Failed leaders like Chirac in France and Schroeder in Germany also pound home the anti-American theme to divert attention away from their own disastrous administrations. But now the terrorists have struck again. 9/11, Madrid , today London . If all of the anti-U.S. bitterness were redirected into anti-terror bitterness, the world might defeat these savages. We all know which major countries allow terrorists to operate: Iran , Syria , Saudi Arabia , and to a lesser extent, Pakistan and Indonesia . Why isn't the European press condemning those countries? Why doesn't Europe admit Saddam's regime helped terrorists all day long? Why won't the world help the struggling democracy in Iraq ?”
Talk radio king Rush Limbaugh recently had some fun at the expense of Time magazine journalist Michael Duffy, a liberal terrorist sympathizer if there ever was one, and some of the well-known uber-liberal senators. First, here’s the relevant Duffy quote: "The hijackers, 19 of whom have died and (we) will never really get to know, were children." Rush remarked, “Oh, yeah, just innocent little children! They were just mis-educated and turned the wrong way in life and, Ooooh, and we'll never get to know them! All this sympathy for our enemies, sympathy for the terrorists. We have Chuck Schumer declaring ‘war’ on the next Supreme Court nominee, but he won't join us in declaring war on the enemy that we face -- and then Ted Kennedy: ‘Saddam’s torture chambers reopened under new management, US management’. This is as libelous as what he said about Robert Bork.”
The Left’s ongoing attempts to smear President Bush and undermine our struggle against terrorism raises a host of questions: Doesn’t the Left care that western civilization and modernity are in a life and death struggle with murderous thugs that could nuke a major city (or cities) or unleash a pandemic with the help of a rogue regime? Are Leftists in a neurotic state of denial regarding the threat posed by the global web of terror? Or, is the Left so overcome by rage against President Bush that it refuses to cooperate with his signature cause to battle terrorism? These are just some questions to ponder.
In my estimation, the Left can’t get past its overwhelming “Bush hatred” and “blame America first” attitude that predisposes it to have sympathy for America ’s enemies. Unfortunately, the political Left is rife with terrorist sympathizers who can’t fully fathom the heinous nature of evildoers that target innocent civilians for death. Denial, in my opinion, is an element when considering the Leftist mentality. In the wake of the London terrorist attacks, Bill O’Reilly’s comments to a Leftist journalist were spot-on. The journalist thought that we needed to understand the perspective of terrorists: O’Reilly replied, “Serial killers have perspectives, too! We don’t take their point of view!” Exactly. Arab grievances? Why should we make any excuses for murderers?
