America's French Revolution II: A progressively "teachable moment"

By Michael Moriarty
web posted September 21, 2009

ACORN and its scandals over sex?

Apparently America is not as liberated as the Progressives would like this nation to be … but, "How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Pareeeeee?!"

Perhaps the Democratic Congressmen … and women, plus Maureen Dowd and Charlie Gibson, can import a more Parisian attitude and convince America that Glenn Beck is just another Joseph McCarthy, and that "prostitution" is as falsely righteous an alarm-bell as "communism".

"Puritanical, tight-butted, bourgeois America!!"

Sexual and political repression in America has again been revealed by ACORN's attempts to bring Paris … and Amsterdam … to Maryland, California and Washington, D.C.

Obviously we're in for another "teachable moment".

With the European Union and Canada as Obama's new role models for America, our present moment is obviously the beginning of a Progressively Teachable Century.

It might take one hundred years for the Progressives to help middle-class America grow up!!

Then, after that, there's the Catholic Church to teach, right?

"Oh, it can all look so frustrating at times!"

Yes, but underage children … in the prostitution business?

"Some corners of the world find it quite acceptable!"

Not even the Progressive Hillary Clinton finds it acceptable.

Read her biography, Living History. She infers her case for abortion by showing the photo of a possibly under-age Philippine prostitute. The hidden and inferential caption beneath the photo might be: "Wouldn't this poor, poverty-stricken child have been better off aborted?"

The Secretary of State is a proud, Progressive Christian of some denomination or other … and her favorite Biblical figure is Esther.

One of my favorite, Biblical heroines is Mary Magdalene. I wonder if she would have preferred being aborted over meeting Christ.

"Not everyone is as lucky as Mary Magdalene, Michael!"

Hmmm … interesting distinction.

Whatever, you have to admit that ACORN is bold!!!

ACORN's actual head director of "Community Organizers" is, as we now all know, that greatest of all community organizers, the presiding President of the United States, Barack Obama … and he is, well, making "Change we can believe in" … organizing the entire American community overnight, right?

"What's yer problem? You prob'ly voted for 'im … and even if you didn't, get outta our way! He won!!"

But, gee … the European Union as our promised land? When we came to America to get away from Europe?

"You can't stop Progress!"

That's what Hitler thought with his Thousand Year Plan.

"That's what Mao thought too!"

And Stalin.

"Right!! They've brought change we can believe in!!"

Ronald Reagan didn't believe in it.

"He's dead!!!! Thank God!"

And Glenn Beck is Joe McCarthy?

Yes … right … it is going to take one thousand years … maybe longer … to shove this "teachable moment" down the throat of America and that of the Catholic Church.

"It'll take what it takes!"

Including death panels?

"You got that right!"

Hmmm … gee … some of what you bring us … in these "teachable moments" may prove to be true … but other things, like abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research and under-age prostitution …

"You'd be surprised by what you'll see, you bourgeois idiot!!"

For how long?

Well … slavery in America did last 89 years … so I had better be patient.

"If it takes that long, you'll be dead!"

But the world's bourgeoisie and the Catholic Church won't be dead.

"They'll be transformed!"

"Right … change we can believe in!!!"

Hmmm … well, I think we bourgeoisie have a few "teachable moments" in store for the President as well. There are obviously a few, eternal truths he and the Progressive world seems to have forgotten … or discarded as "no longer relevant".

The Golden Rule is one of them., a moral theory of relativity possibly beyond a Progressive's comprehension … but certainly beneath his or her consideration.

As I've written many times before, we really shouldn't do unto gestating infants what we would not want to have been done unto our own gestating infancy.

The opposite of the Golden Rule, however, is this "Change we can believe in" … nurturing the indisputably rotten oak that is rising out of a Progressively corrupted Acorn.

Next week, we'll continue our French Revolutionary metaphor by casting Obama/Biden as a Danton/Robespierre ego a deux, and, in a telescoping of the French Revolution's Grand Guignol, Vladimir Putin as the Progressive "Strongman" … the increasingly French New World Order's Napoleon.

Obama's capitulation to the neo-Soviet demand that America pull its anti-ballistic missiles out of eastern Europe?

Doesn't our President's concession have the Napoleonic Putin figuratively on the doorstep of the Pentagon?

There will, of course … and rather suddenly … appear, much to the surprise of a New World Order, our "Lord Nelson"!

He … or possibly she … hmmm, indeed … will be a leader who can serve up more than one Waterloo to this increasingly Napoleonic Progressive Movement and its unrelenting assault on traditional, Judeo-Christian values.

The question I hope to answer in this particular editorial series on America's French Revolution is: who will that Lord Nelson be?

A man … or a Joan of Arc? ESR
