| Conservatives: Ignore the polls, just vote
By Bonnie Rogoff This is the most depressing election conservatives have seen in years. The frustration is understandable. Since 1994, the GOP establishment continues to reject the pro-life base. Pro-life legislation has been challenged in the courts and judges have been denied appointments. GOP leaders don't discuss family or religious values anymore. We hold our noses and vote for them in gratitude. There is no longer any excuse to support the GOP establishment to maintain a slim majority that concedes to the Democratic left. However, that is no reason to unseat individuals who work hard for our causes and deserve our commitment. I fail to understand why dedicated pro-life voters would punish the few proud, upstanding Republicans who share our ideals by not voting for them. For example, in Missouri Claire McCaskill has opened a miniscule lead in the Senate race against incumbent pro-life conservative hero Jim Talent since Michael J. Fox misrepresented embryonic stem cell research in an ad. As readers know, I am a strong supporter of Senator Talent. It would be unforgivable to send Talent packing based upon that commercial. This year, four October surprises occurred successively: the Mark Foley sex emails, the Michael J. Fox stem cell ads, the media storm over Rush Limbaugh's response to those ads, and the Kerry "joke." The Foley emails were repulsive but had nothing to do with the GOP. The stem cell ads were a lie, created to unseat Senator Talent. Rush Limbaugh's response to the Fox ad was his personal opinion. The Kerry comment has father reaches in that it reflects the views of the Democrat Party. Their agenda portends a future of liquid borders, negotiations with terrorists, and a quicker withdrawal from Iraq leaving the region vulnerable. As WorldNetDaily reported, top terrorist leaders in Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and Hamas are encouraging Americans to vote for Democrats, whom they see will hasten U.S. withdrawal from Iraq and embolden militant efforts toward resistance and increased suicide bombings. Terrorists know which party will be more likely to support their interests in the Middle East against Israel. The media ignores this bit of news but gasps about Limbaugh. The polls look dismal for us. Michael Steele (R-MD) gained ground in his race for an open seat against Democrat Ben Cardin but trails by three points. Virginia is a toss-up, with James Webb in a one-point lead over Senator George Allen. Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) is even with Jon Tester. Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH) will likely lose as will Senator Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania. Only in two states, Tennessee and Arizona, does the GOP hold a commanding lead in the Senate races. Something is wrong when every Republican, even conservatives, must fight for survival. Democrats have neither issues nor traditional values. Since the media never reports accurately on issues favoring conservatives, that job falls to the GOP and the President. They must follow through with decisive action, whether it's the war in Iraq, protecting Israel, stopping abortion and embryonic stem cell research, the Terri Schiavo case and fighting assisted suicide/euthanasia, or fighting homosexual marriage. The GOP has failed to do this and that's why they'll pay a price on Tuesday. Nor will you find truth in any newspaper. The so-called "conservative" New York Post endorsed Hillary Clinton for re-election as has – get this – The Jewish Press! Talk about being duped…Hillary will turn her favoritism right back to the Palestinian Authority and Jerusalem would be a Palestinian terror capital if she ever became President. That's why I'm voting for John D. Spencer. He is the Conservative Party's candidate in New York. Mr. Spencer supports stronger economic sanctions against Iran and increased border security, is pro-life, and he opposes gun control, affirmative action and special rights for gays and that's enough to make me support him. Plus, he's a Viet Nam vet. If there were third-party conservative candidates that were viable alternatives, I'd say go for it. Since there are not, the punishment voters hope to mete out will be self-inflicted. It could be a lot worse. We can end up with a GOP with no conservatives left. Better to have a moral minority than no morals at all. Over a 60-year period, the Democrat party transformed a normal traditional American culture into a hedonistic trans-gendered wasteland. If family values are your forte, you won't find them in the Democratic Party. Prediction: If our values lose at the polls, you'll hear elite media pundits announcing that our country has moved to the "center." Don't believe it. All it means is that the pro-life religious voter turnout was low. Frustration can be contagious. Don't sit home; vote for the conservatives in your state. In addition to voting for Senator Talent in Missouri, remember to vote NO on Amendment 2 (the Stem Cell Referendum), and in Oregon vote YES on Measure 43 (Parental Notification Measure).
