American progressive Christianity

Abortion is not only defended by the Democratic Party, it is being virtually sold to the American people by the Democratic Party's favorite charities such as Planned Parenthood.

Abortion is also proclaimed by the Democrats to be one of … if not the best cure for poverty. As such, it has been fully adopted by the high profile Democratic politicians, reverends and celebrities within the African American community, such as Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson and Oprah Winfrey.

In another corner of the Democratic Party, Bill and Hillary Clinton, two very bold exponents of abortion, have proclaimed themselves to be a special kind of Christian … a "Progressive" Christian. He a "Progressive Baptist", she a "Progressive Episcopalian", both defend abortion as a "woman's right to choose."

In a third corner of this revolutionary hat, Progressive Catholics defend their right to vote and even work for the pro-abortion, Democratic Party because of the freedoms allowed them under the "separation of church and state".

This "sacred" precept was eloquently defended by the former presidential candidate, Mario Cuomo, in his famous speech on the subject at Notre Dame. A politician's freedoms under the separation of church and state … are the freedom to publicly compromise one's religion and yet not be justifiably chastised for it.

Since when does the American separation of Church and state justify a politician's right to religious hypocrisy? Abortion in the Catholic Church is a cardinal sin, one committed at risk to one's very soul.

You wouldn't know that from the CNN analysis of Catholics who are expected to vote for Obama and Biden … largely because Joe Biden himself is a Catholic … which must mean that abortion is … right?

I'm a pro-life libertarian.

I was a Catholic and a Democrat … but … well, I just couldn't stand living with the inherent hypocrisy involved … so I left both!

Ironically, Christ saved his deepest and greatest rage for a kind of hypocrisy that frequently runs for political office.

To paraphrase Jesus in the New Testament: Lawyers heap on others pains that they themselves could not endure!

What did the Supreme Court's lawyers heap upon gestating infants?

Roe v. Wade.

And what do Progressive Catholics heap upon the likes of Trig Palin? The hidden cry for his death.

Hmmm … "the eugenic underbelly" comes to mind. That's a phrase coined by Rich Lowry of the National Review in his moving tribute to Sarah Palin. The article concludes with the increasingly stark question of what may or may not constitute "perfection".

The mystery of God's universe seems most clearly pierced by Sarah Palin's feeling that, in his own way, her son Trig, even with his Down Syndrome, is a "perfection".

The "eugenic underbelly" … of all Progressive thinking … what or who is now most exposing it?

Sarah Palin.

God has obviously blessed Sarah Palin with as much courage as He has bestowed her with gifts.

She, above all others, will lead us out of this eugenic underbelly into which the Intellectual Elitism of the Progressive Protestants and the Progressive Catholics have seduced us. ESR
